Minister of Finance, Dana Reizniece-Ozola, has been recognised as the best Minister of Finance of 2017 in the European region. The high rating has been granted by the international business and financial publication The Banker by appreciating the work done for stabilisation of the financial situation of Latvia and promotion of growth.
It has been noted in the financial publication that, taking into account both fiscal consolidation and growth targets, Mrs. Reizniece-Ozola not only has a strong position for fiscal matters, but she also contributes to the positive results of the Latvian economy with an ambitious structural reform programme. In order to achieve the aim of increasing tax revenue to a third of GDP, Dana Reizniece-Ozola concentrates on reducing the illegal economy, fight against illicit money flows and the possible financing of terrorism.
Each year the prestigious global banking and financial sector magazine The Banker, which is edited by the British daily Financial Times since 1926, nominates candidates for the awards in different categories in several countries. Awards are granted by taking into account a thorough survey, but the final decision on the winner is made by a jury nominated by the publisher.
As announced earlier, the prestigious edition POLITICO has also included the Minister of Finance, Dana Reizniece-Ozola, into the list of 28 most influential people in Europe. This list annually includes influential thinkers and doers who are changing the European policy and ideas.
