Latvia as a European Union (EU) Member State implements the EU regional policy using EU funds financing for economic and social development. The most important financial resources from where Latvia receives EU financial assistance are EU funds: European Social Fund (ESF), European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), and Cohesion Fund (CF). EU funds management is ensured by the Ministry of Finance, the EU funds Managing Authority in Latvia.
According to the decision of the EU Council on the multiannual financial framework 2007-2013 Latvia has been allocated 4.53 billion EUR from ERDF, ESF, and CF.
