Ministry of Finance invites the public to use #Budget2026 exploration and analysis tools

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) invites the public to use the available digital tools to explore and understand how the 2026 state budget funds are planned and invested. This year's budget is a budget for a safer future, providing additional funding for national priorities – defense, support for families with children, and education. Two in-depth budget exploration opportunities are already available to any interested party: the interactive state budget and budget open data, which allow users to explore the budget structure, priorities, and funding allocation at various levels of detail.

The interactive budget tool provides an opportunity to get acquainted with the allocation of state budget funding by sectors and programs in a simple and transparent way, as well as to understand the results expected from the investments. This tool is particularly suitable for the general public and anyone interested in exploring the budget structure and national priorities quickly and through visual perception.

In turn, state budget open data provide an opportunity for in-depth and independent analysis. These data are freely downloadable and can be used in research, visualization creation, and various analytical projects. Open data are particularly useful for researchers, students, and data analysts who wish to work with budget information in a detailed and structured manner. Budget open data are available on the Open Data Portal.

In the near future, another tool will be available on the MoF website to complement the possibilities for exploring and analyzing state budget data: the state budget funding overview by ministries and their areas of responsibility. This will allow convenient access to detailed information, including information on planned funding by ministries and their areas of responsibility, including for previous years, as well as provide an opportunity to get acquainted with the structured explanations of the state budget, which clearly explain in which areas and to what extent taxpayers' money is being invested and what results are expected from these investments.

The 2026 state budget expenditures reflect national priorities in the fields of security, social protection, and development, ensuring funding for the safety, health, education, and economic growth of the population. The 2026 consolidated state budget revenue is planned at 16.1 billion euros, while expenditures are planned at 17.96 billion euros.

In the 2026 budget, the largest allocation is designated for social protection – 6.11 billion euros or 34% of total expenditures. Significant funds are also allocated for the promotion of economic activity (2.55 billion euros or 14.2%), provision of general government services (2.42 billion euros or 13.5%), and defense (2.2 billion euros or 12.2%). The health sector is allocated 1.91 billion euros (10.6%), education – 1.35 billion euros (7.5%), while public order and safety – 1.08 billion euros (6.0%). The remaining funding is directed toward state debt management and contributions to the EU budget, as well as the environmental, housing, and cultural sectors.

Broad and easily perceivable accessibility of state budget data promotes transparency, strengthens trust in public administration, and facilitates higher quality public discussion on national priorities and the use of financial resources. The MoF invites everyone to use the available tools to better understand the state budget and its impact on society as a whole.
